Tour Diary: New York – Good Morning America!

My last few days in NY were insane. After the show in New Jersey – I got up the next morning at 4am to meet Jane and the band at their hotel to catch a ride to Central Park for the GMA performance.

I actually thought for a second about skipping this (I am soooo not a morning person) but then I gave myself a slap across the face. When will I ever have another opportunity like this??  πŸ™‚

I met everyone at the hotel and we got into vans and headed towards Central Park.

I felt like I was in a bizzaro world. If you’re a Go-Go’s fan like me then you’ve probably watched all the “behind the scenes” footage from the 2001 Go-Go’s Live in Central Park dvd and here I was in a very similar scene.

I felt completely out of my body and kept pinching my leg to remind myself that I was actually experiencing what I was experiencing.  πŸ™‚

When we got to the GMA set I was handed my laminate …

… and while the band went into hair and make-up I started “live tweeting” photos for the band.

The fans were already camped out in the park when we got there …

The crew was there even earlier then me to set everything up. I think their “call” was for 2am. Yikes.

The band did a few warm up songs …

Then GMA started and I managed to catch the “bumber” they ran on the monitor.  πŸ˜‰

And then it was time for them to play!

The band played great!! God. I could barely tie my shoe laces I was so tired … I don’t know how they did it.  πŸ˜‰

As soon as the show was over the band was whisked backstage to do some interviews.

Then we all headed back to the GG’s hotel … and everyone went back to their rooms for a nap. I cabbed it back to my hotel and lay back on the bed like a corpse and had a power nap.

A few hours later I got ready meet up with my friend Arnold at Irving Plaza for the show later that night….

How to wear a summer dress in the fall …

Even though fall is here and the cold weather is rolling in … that doesn’t mean you can’t still wear your cute summer dresses!!!

Today I’m wearing my Bernie Dexter – Blaize Dress with my Vegetarian Shoes – Vintage boots, a vintage coat from the Sally-Ann, my Ms.Betty purse, and my cat-eyed sunglasses.

Refresh!!

I’ve been SO busy with the store and my Arsenal Pulp project that I haven’t had much time to blog about my day to day …

I keep meaning to finish my East Coast travel blog so I can get started on my West Coast trip but I don’t seem to have a spare moment to anything!! And I can’t blog about the AP project because I don’t want to give anything away …  πŸ™‚

I also realized that I tweet everything that happens to me in the day rather then blog it. So today I decided to start blogging more about everything that happens.

Today my friend Morgan came by to paint the front door of Sarah’s Place. I’ve noticed that a lot of people walk by my wall of windows and can’t figure out how to get into my store *laugh* so I thought if we painted the door a bright colour it would help them figure it out.  πŸ˜‰

Today I got a huge shipment of sunglasses in as well as a big box of Bernie Dexter clothes.

I’m just going through the box now and steaming everything so I can put it out on hangers. Then I have to shoot photos of the clothing and put it up on the website. Plus I’ve had customers streaming in and out all day (it’s so sunny and nice today). Retail is hard work people!! πŸ™‚

My sweet Gerry came by for lunch today and we had soup from Solstice Cafe. It’s so great to have a neighbour who makes vegan soup. Plus soup always makes me feel better.

I had to stay home from work yesterday because I was under the weather. I have been feeling really tired this week and making stupid little mistakes in everything I was doing. I thought I was overwhelmed with work but I realized I was getting sick.

It was really difficult to decide to stay home from work. As a small business owner with no staff (except for Jodi who works on Sunday) – staying home means I miss out on potential income but I figured if I stayed home and nipped this illness in the bud that I would miss less days of work if I came to work and became super-duper sick.

I spent the ENTIRE day sleeping yesterday and woke up feeling a lot better. Sleep really is the greatest healer. Aren’t our bodies amazing?

Woke up with a sore throat and creepy crawly skin … damn. I’m sick. πŸ™
I almost never get sick … so I guess I’m due.

Earth’s Herbal

HEY!! Just got in a new shipment of Earth’s Herbal Aromatherapy products.

Dragon’s Fire Mist (a blend of cinnamon, orange, ylang ylang, cedar wood) is similar to Fairy Mist (a blend of orange, lavender, hazelnut, rosewood) in that it can be used to cleans a room of stinky smells, or to clear and enhance your mental awareness or can be used as a personal scent.

I am also carrying Angel Water!

This is seriously one of my all time favorite products and acts as a wonderful skin toner. Anytime you feel like you are getting a bit greasy or dirty during the day grab a face pad and a spritz of Angel water. You will see the dirt come off on your pad – amazing. Gentle on your face, leaving your skin hydrated and soft.

A unique herbal blend with calendula flowers, witch hazel and aloe vera. Repairs skin cells and acts as an antibacterial face wash. The light, natural fragrance of a sweet vanilla orange. Your beautiful face will thank you. πŸ™‚

Come down to Sarah’s Place (533 Pandora Ave) and try out the testers I have on display or purchase them online HERE.

2011 GoVegan Calendar – OCT!

Pinch punch! It’s the first of the month and its time to flip your calendar!!

This month I’m paying homage to Devo! OH my god … love Devo.

Love the costumes. Love the kitch. Love the subversive humor. But most of all – I love the music! Sadly, I’ve never seen them live (I think I need to do something about that).

This shoot was fun. I searched for MONTHS on ebay searching in vain for a silver suit but I did happen on this vintage silver dress that worked perfectly for the photo.

My Devo Energy Dome is from Devo’s official webstore and Rudee did a great job of seamlessly stitching all 5 photos of me together.  πŸ™‚

The recipe this month is for Cinnamon Doughnut Holes. There is no need to “crack that egg or whip it” because this recipe is egg free and fabulous!
