I don't know about you …

… but my days are all fucker-nuckered because of the holidays and it’s especially confusing because Gerry keeps working one day then has another day off. Working one day. Day off. I’m so confused about what day it is *laugh*

Thank goodness things will be back to normal after this weekend and we can put these wretched holidays behind us and get back to our normal lives. Oh god. Valentines Day is right around the corner. THE HORROR!ร‚ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

I can’t believe Gerry and I will be in Hawaii in 5 weeks from now!! (BTW That takes care of New Years Resolution #5). It’s been a pretty mild winter in Victoria so far and we haven’t had any snow (thank goodness) but I’m secretly kind of hoping the weather gets a little nasty before we leave so I can enjoy Hawaii even more knowing that my friends/family are freezing. Isn’t that horrible? I’m horrible. ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s actually been so nice lately that I just wore my SSOV hoodie as my jacket the other day and I was over-dressed.

To battle away my Pacific NW Blues I’ve been trying to get outside even on the cloudy/rainy days so I can get a daily dose of sunshine (even if she is hiding behind the clouds) and lately we’ve been taking Fergus to a hockey rink to exercise him…

…that way he doesn’t get too muddy and I don’t have to bathe him when we get home (I don’t want to dry out his sensitive skin with doggie shampoo…) and with all the back and forth chasing the ball from one end to the other – it only takes Gerry and I half the time it normally does to tire Fergus out and we can get out of the rain.ร‚ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

The sun was out briefly today so we decided to go to the beach instead for his walk … and did Fergus ever get DIRTY! Oh my lord he sure loves to roll in dead things and get sand in ever single crevasse in his body. Nothing cuter than a wet dog in a bath tub.

He had a thorough shampoo as soon as we got home and in an effort to keep him from rubbing his body all over my very expensive faux-suede couch – I let him loose in the hallway of my condo. Shhhh. Don’t tell the neighbours.

Why does being wet make him so mental?

I also painted the ceiling in the kitchen today and I think my neck is going to have something to say about it tomorrow… I did some stretches after and I’ve got an ice-pack on it now. Fingers crossed my neck doesn’t go out because of all the looking up (stupid old car accident injury).

Ok friends. I’m off to try and find a Toonie to put in my bank (resolution #3) and then do a little meditation (resolution #4). I think meditating is going to be the hardest resolution to keep. I seriously can’t make my brain stop thinking about the pile of laundry that needs to be folded. Does anyone have any advice? Perhaps I should start with some guided meditations … Thoughts?

Ohh, you’re going to Hawaii? That is so awesome! Whereabouts are you going? I lived on the Big Island for four months, so I can give you some advice about things to see if you plan on visiting that island. Have fun and take lots of pics!

Fergus is so smart/cute! After we give my dog Snowball a bath we usually let her run through our hallway and she acts similar to Fergus, just a bit crazier, probably since she’s younger than him. Are you going to bring him to Hawaii? I’m sure he’d enjoy that very much. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. fucker-nuckered – what a great word! Yes, me too. Being self-employed at a job I love, I actually get quite impatient with holidays… must learn to relax, I guess! Happy new year!

    Hi there,

Guided meditation is a good idea, here is a link to a free download meditation. If you go to: http://universalmedicine.com.au
Then click on รขโ‚ฌล“Productsรขโ‚ฌย (which is on the left hand side of the page) and then Audio. The gentle breath meditation will appear at the top of that page.
You can either download it (and then meditate with your ipod) or click play and listen to it that way from your computer…

Congrats on the upcoming Hawaii vacation. Careful what you wish for on the weather front, that would really suck if your flight got delayed because of it. It’s miserable being stuck in an airport. It’s cruel to be on your vacation and stuck in an airport.

Oh, yah, fucker-nucker, I agree with a previous commenter, awesome word!

in vipassana (mindfulness meditation) thinking about the laundry is actually part of the meditation! the hardest thing is just sitting down to meditate. if you can find a meditation center or group, that’s great – sitting with a bunch of other people is really helpful. other than that, getting a zafu and zabuton make a big difference. other than that, just sit comfortably and focus on your breathing, note “distractions” and let them pass rather than think of them as meditation ruiners. the trickiest thing once you actually sit down is that the dog will be the main distraction. i wonder if mara ever took the form of cute dogs and cats when the buddha was sitting under the bodhi tree, because that would have been a really diabolical trick!
