Guided Meditations …

I’ve been using guided meditations for many years as a way to deal with stress, pain and as a way to take a few moments to center myself. I thought I’d share my fav ones.
They’re all actually by the same woman – Stin Hansen – and are available for free on Itunes. These are my top 3.

Zzzzzz: is what I use when I can’t sleep or if I’m trying to take a nap.

Body Change: is for when I am carrying too much stress in my body.

Meditatation for Headaches and other pain: is amazing. Anytime I have a tension headache or a migraine sneaking up I do this meditation. It’s only 13 minutes long and it works wonders for me. I can’t seem to find this on itunes anymore but I found it (and all of her other meditations) on GrooveShark.

I have these on my iphone and use them often. Just never driving. NEVER! 🙂
Only do them when you have the time and space to meditate.

Do you guys have any guided meditations you’d like to share?

  1. I’m a relative newbie to meditation, but would love to do it to alleviate anxiety and lack of concentration. I tried out a Zen meditation session up at UVic this last Tuesday evening; it was surprisingly mellow relatively free of woo-woo. I felt really relaxed and alert afterwards.

In the past, I’d tried some via the Chopra centre (chopra.com) but the guy who led the meditation (someone named David Ji, I think) sounded so dramatically groovy that I always ended up laughing my ass off.

I frequently find myself returning to yogaglo.com (you do have to pay a monthly fee to access the site but you can try it out for free). The meditations they have available work for me and my schedule- they run anywhere from 5 minutes to 60minutes. Plus, David Wagner, who leads some of the meditations has such a relaxing, soothing voice–I just love it!

I got on the Get Headspace bandwagon http://www.getsomeheadspace.com/ and have really enjoyed it. It’s way non-woo and even though only the first 10 are free, I find it’s worth the (quite reasonable) price to have such a great ongoing/progressive set!

Hey Sarah! Hope you are feelin better! Wanted to thank you for posting this. Dealing with my CRPS pain is excruciating & I’ve been searching for some guided meditations to use in conjunction with the binaural beats I’ve been using. See ya in the twitterverse! 😀

Binaural beats are amazing. I’ve used them for migraines with great success. If you find something you like – send me the link. 🙂
