You know you've made it when …

You know you’ve made it when …  the crazy Christians (not to be confused with my lovely sane Christian readers) write you hate-mail. I won’t transcript the entire letter but this part made me laugh out loud:

“One thing that I did find (in regards to HIAV) was two references to “X-mas,” a spelling that I considered out of place and frankly, insulting. If you at some point in your prefatory notes quoted a line or two from a poem, wouldn’t you have felt obliged to give credit to it’s author? How fair is it then that you deliberately snub the “author” of CHRISTmas?”

This dudes letter was so bizarre that I felt compelled to sign him up for a free package of Adult Diapers and for a newsletter from NAMBLA.

But of course I didn’t do that… or did I? 🙂

    bahaha that is hilarious!

  2. Holly says:

That Christian doesn’t know much about his or her own religion! The X originated from the Greek spelling for Christ, which starts with an X in the Greek alphabet. It’s not like you were replacing the “Christ” with a big X in order to secularize the word! It’s still referring to Christ, only in a different language!

  3. Holly says:

Just did a little more research. The usage of the X to abbreviate “Christ” has been practiced by Christians for at nearly 1000 years! So it’s not blasphemy at all!

  4. vaalea says:

Not only the x bit holly mentioned.. but christmas is a fake date anyway.. based on pagan tradition really.

  5. vaalea says:

… for those who might not get the irony… 😉

I don’t know if he was trying to be anonymous or not but just for comfort to you… every letter typed on a typer writer can be traced back to its original typer writer (assuming you have an idea of who it might be) based on the spacing between words and letters. Its kind of like a finger print for each typer writer.

this reminded me of a quote of yours in la dolce vegan where you say its not your job to be the vegan police and that its up to individual’s to decide for themselves what to do with ones own life/decisions/etc….

some people choose to crap on other people’s parade for a living that’s all….

ps. i have been making your tomato/basil soup way too much lately… it’s my wife’s favorite comfort recipe… 🙂

  8. Tara says:

Mr. Christian Pants snubbed you by abbreviating “How it All Vegan” into “HIAV” which is vegan blasphemy!!!

  9. Jennifer says:

heee larious. I laughed out load when I clicked the adult diaper link.

  10. Landice says:

haha no offense but how about get a life…. (not to you sarah) to the crazies….. thnx for the chuckle

  11. Jenn says:

I hope you did send the diapers – hee hee.

  12. Anastasia says:

    How ironic.
Maybe the dude was a sunday school dropout considering his knowledge of religion.

I honestly could never understand the Christians who seem to have a bible shoved up their bums.

  13. carrie says:

Yeah you want to be careful with that whole abbreviation thing Sarah…Jesus might sue…then you’d be sorry….

Plus am vaguely disappointed it was typed and not written all in CAPITALS with green ink…what sort of a crazy is this, bucking the trend in such a flagrant manner?

  14. Laura says:

what a pathetic excuse for a fundamentalist “Christian” [just a note, fundamentalist by definition means un-educated] everyone knows that “God commanded us to eat animals” ;P
as a devout Christian who has chosen veganism because it was the perfect diet practiced in the Garden of Eden I am ashamed to say that I share (some of) my beliefs with this guy
