Because we’re in a condo and don’t have a compost pile or room for a box of worms … I’ve been looking for a good way to compost my kitchen waste and thanks to my pal Raven I think I’ve found it. Read all aboot it HERE!!
Does anyone have any experience with one of these??
I’m adding it to my wishlist. Thanks for the post 🙂
thank you for this! I live in a condo and have been looking for a small composter as well
That is awesome! I love it. I have a compost bin outside but I would like that one too.
I’ve been dithering over getting one of these forever — well, since my friend who used to compost for me wimped out. My condo is dinky and has no balcony or outside area, and I worry I wouldn’t have enough food waste to support worms and they’d all starve or dehydrate or something. (Perhaps I worry too much.) I also considered bokashi composting, but that seems to require you to bury the dried husks after fermentation — and with no garden, that’s hard to do.
The Nature Mill things look great, but I’m still trying to find out exactly how the electricity they use balances against the methane, etc., that they keep out of the atmosphere (I assume the balance is favorable, but I’d like some hard stats so I can defend myself when accused of wasting electricity). The other question is what to do with the compost once I’ve got it. I don’t have that many houseplants.
Sorry for the long comment. This is just something that’s been on my mind a lot lately — if you get one, please do post in great detail about how it works and how you like it!
Sorry I can’t help either, Sarah, as I’ve never heard of this. I too live in an apartment and would love to see how this works! Like Heather, I’m a bit worried about the electricity usage, but if 75% of the volume of compost is released as water vapour, then I’d be willing to bet it saves much more energy and greenhouse gas emissions than it uses in electricity. If you get one, please let us know how you like it!!!
BTW how do you like your retro oven “Samantha”?
This looks fantastic! I’m buying a house and we move into it in a few months and I wanted to do a compost pile. Unfortunately, it looked like something that was way too much work and too confusing but something like this looks very easy! I think I’ll opt for this instead. Thanks, dear! 😀
That is so cool!! Now I want one too.
