What I did on my Xmas vacation …

Many years ago Gerry and I opted out of X-mas so we don’t celebrate anything this time of year but since the rest of the world takes a holiday – we do too.

X-mas Eve we watched Auntie Mame. It’s one of my favourite movies …

Rosalind Russell’s costumes and eyebrows are to DIE for!! I could watch this movie 1000 times and see something different every time. LOVE IT!

Our X-mas morning tradition is that we sleep in as late as possible and then have a pancake breakfast … I made gluten-free pancakes and gluten-free breakfast sausages from the GoVegan! w/Sarah Kramer app. Yum! I also made a quick apple sauce for the pancakes by blending an apple, 4 dates (for sweetness), some cinnamon and water in my BlendTec blender until smooth. Double yum! 🙂

The weather was frightful so we took Fergus for a quick walk around the block and then Gerry and I headed down to Sarah’s Place to put together my new Ikea desk. It only took us 2 hours … not bad.  🙂

Fergus approves…

Then we went to see The Muppet Movie! I highly recommend this movie!! So much fun!

Boxing Day was spent in an equally lazy fashion. I didn’t get out of my pajamas till noon! *woot*

Lately Fergus has been obsessed with getting into the bathtub after I’m done bathing and licking it out. *gross* Yesterday and I shared a bath with Gerry and Fergus was very impatient that Ger was taking so long to get out so he barked at him to hurry up and get out.

Gerry picked him up and put him in the water. I’m not sure that’s exactly what Fergus wanted… *laugh*

“What have I gotten myself into…”

Once everyone was dry and dressed … we went for a nice long walk and then we met Gerry’s parents for dinner at Milestones.

They have a GF/Vegan friendly tomato basil pasta! It’s pretty yum!

Aren’t Gerry’s parents the cutest?? 🙂

What a wonderful weekend we had … how was yours? What did you do? More importantly … what did you eat? 🙂

Last night, I attempted to make waffles for the first time. Pumpkin waffles. They looked so horrible, but tasted delicious! Lol. I also made tons of cookies and some peppermint bark!

We coccooned as much as possible to recover from two crazy weeks of working in retail. It was very rejuvinating and we ate more chocolate than actual food, I think. 😀
A friend posted this video on my wall and I immediately thought of you for some reason, so prepare to re-awaken an old ear worm!

Thankfully my family and I celebrated before Xmas day so we got to sleep in and be bums. As for food we ate mostly vegan food. My husband and daughter are more vegetarian and I am the vegan. We had gluten free vegan ginger ninja men and ginger dead men I got awesome cookie cutters. We had pasta for lunch, and for dinner lots of salad, black beans and brown rice with a cherry pie and apple pie thrown in for good measure.
Thankfully the holiday is over and now it is time to recoup from all the food and rich food that we managed to somehow consume so now it is back to eating more lightly which I prefer to do most of the time anyway.

Glad you had a good holiday and hope everyones was somewhat stress free and restful.

Sounds like a great holiday! That’s just what I did on Dec 26 and 27. On Xmas Day, I made a 4-course vegan supper for my husband and his parents and brother. I used The Millennium Cookbook, which I bought at Millennium restaurant last time I was in San Francisco 😀 . We had a gourmet lime-grapefruit-avocado-spinach salad to start, followed by caramelized onion soup (my in-laws LOVE onions), then some butternut squash ravioli with braised garlic cream sauce for the main course, and lemon-macadamia cupcakes from VCTOTW. Delicious!

Oh and some snacks that I served earlier in the day for people to graze on while they awaited supper included some apple-phyllo snacks, sugar cut-out cookies from VCIYCJ, some fresh fruit, and veggies and dip so that we all felt a little healthier while eating all the other snacks I made 😀

I’m so bummed that I can’t download your new app, but I only have an iPhone 3G, which doesn’t support iOS 4.3. :'(
