Hurry up and wait… that’s all traveling by air is.
I had a great day today. Woke up. Gerry and I walked to get coffee with Fergus and then walked downtown and did a few errands (I love living back downtown again). Then we came home and ran a few more errands with the car, went for veggie burgers at Milestones restaurant. Then we came home and hung out with the dog some more and went for another walk. Then we drove out to the airport and I checked in. Then we snuggled and snuggled. It’s so hard being away from the man I love. I’m only going for 5 nights … but I just got back from my trip to T.O. and it feels like I barely had time to unpack before I had to pack again.
This book tour thing has been fun so far. It’s so great to meet all the shiny happy faces of people who love the cookbooks. It makes this entire process feel real… cause most of the time its kind of abstract. Just me in the kitchen testing recipes and then banging them out on the computer and sending them over to Vancouver to be turned into a book. It’s so bizarre when I finally get to hold the book in my hands. But for some reason even then it doesn’t feel real. *laugh*
So here I sit in Victoria waiting for my flight to take me to Seattle where I get to sit and wait for 2 hours for my flight to Portland. Hurry. Wait. Hurry. Wait.
Seattle airport is snazzy. It’s like a freaking mall in there… wait… it is a mall. I went shopping! They had this fantastic store (can’t remember the name) that had local artist art/jewelry and hand made goods. It took a lot of restraint for me not to buy anything… I may hit the store on the way back home. They even had Queen Bee bags! It’s really great to see the airport of all places supporting artists. Really cool.
And the food court was really beautiful.
You know you’re in America when it is total chaos at the customs counter. Wow. That’s all I’m gonna say.
You also know you’re in America when you ask someone where the washroom is and they have no idea what you’re talking about. Then you say bathroom… and they point to where its at. I guess in Canada we wash and America they bath. 🙂
You also know you’re in America when you’re sitting beside a good looking young man with a short haircut… and he starts talking about how when he was “over there” he shot at anything that moved because they “all carry swords and won’t hesitate to stab you in the face if they get the chance.” Wow. That’s all I’m gonna say.
These dang puddle jumping flights are too short for me to get any computer work done. By the time my laptop boots up… it’s time to shut it down for landing.
Joshy is picking me up at the airport. I’m stoked to see him… haven’t seen him in the flesh since the last book tour in 200? And since that trip he and his lady Michelle made a baby. A BABY! I can’t wait to meet Miss Ruby.
So I’m here and I forgot my cord that downloads photos. BAH! I knew I was forgetting something. I”ll have to upload the photos later… sorry kids.
Woke up. Hung out with Ruby Bird. What a cute freaking baby. She’s a little doll and she knows it.
Then we went to Vita restaurant and I had the 2+2+2 which was French Toast, Scrambled Tofu and Tempeh Bacon. Yum. I’m stuffed.
I’m tired. I need a nap already.
Tonight is Food Fight and tomorrow is my trip down to San Fran.
More later peeps. Hopefully with photos.
