Negative!

I have tested negative for the breast cancer gene. This means my chance of a recurrence is low.

The clinician who gave me my results said that science is not smart enough yet to explain how/why my breast cancer arrived. It’s just what they call a random mutation.

I have a meeting with my oncologist on the 7th to talk about my options now in terms of medication, etc etc.

So this is good news… Although it’s difficult to jump for joy with this kind of stuff. It always leaves me feeling cold. Probably don’t want to get too cocky. 🙂

Anyway… I’ll know more about my upcoming treatment plan after the 7th.
Love you guys.
xoxo

    Sarah,
I’m VERY happy you tested negative for the breast cancer gene and that you won’t have to undergo yet another mastectomy. I totally understand where you are coming from, by choosing not to jump for joy just yet, just in case. Much like sickness, recovery brings it’s own fair share of uncertainties. It is then that one realizes that life will never be quite as carefree as it was tought to be. However, we can be happy for a day, an hour, a moment, a breath, because that, we can almost certainly be certain of.
    Much LOVE!!! Nathalie 🙂

Sarah, I quite understand your hesitation to jump for joy, but we are impersonating Kermit the Frog vibrating to the ends of our fingers and shouting “Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!”

    With love,

I’m so glad to read this!

When my wife and I became vegan around 14 years ago, we picked up a copy of “How it all vegan” and we’ve never put it down – the pages are stained and separating from the book spine, but we love it and we wish you the best of health!

Hi Sarah. I don’t know where to begin…your cookbooks have been part of my family’s life for about 15 years. My two older kids (now 16 and 19) habitually refer to “the tattooed ladies” — source of all things delicious (and of course you scored extra points from my kids by providing a “recipe” for sock monkeys). Anyway, it had been years since I had checked your website but was cooking from La Dolce Vegan tonight and suddenly felt inspired to look again at govegan.net…just to see what you have been up to. I am so sorry to see that you have had to go through so many physical and emotional challenges over the past year. For many years you have felt like a friend, even though I knew you simply through your playful, delicious, inspiring, beautiful books. The emotional honesty of your posts over the past year is incredibly moving: I have the deepest respect for you and my whole family will be sending good wishes. xxx Jennifer in Toronto
