Yes! I think he is very well spoken on this issue and I totally agree. The whole thing makes me sick and makes me want to cry. This is one of the VERY FEW times I am ashamed to be a Canadian. It disgusts me.
I have no choice but to admit that I am a die-hard Morrissey fan and Melissa will probably agree. While I agree whole heartedly with the sentiment, the only people this is hurting is his fans. It may garner him some press up here, but even something as showy as Paul McCartney’s visit would’ve brought more headlines.
Morrissey should’ve arranged something more confrontational if he wants to do anything. I think he’s preaching to the choir and then slapping their wrists for the mis-deeds of others. If he wants to hold an entire country responsible for the barbaric actions of the few, he won’t be able to tour anywhere.
Anyway, I’m sure this is a little more political than you’d like – but it pisses me off. I guess that on the bright side, I won’t have to feel bad about buying tickets I can’t afford right now…
By the way, I don’t know if this statement has been widely publicized – I found it in a Morrissey fan site I was specifically visiting, which seems to somewhat support my comments.
“Construction of German gas chambers also provided work for someone – this is not a moral or sound reason for allowing suffering.”
Nicely put 🙂

You know what would be better? If he did tour and decked out his tour bus with anti-sealing slogans and information.
