I made an appointment today for my first mammogram! I’m kind of stoked … is that weird? 🙂
For those of you in BC you don’t need to see your doctor to book a free mammogram. You can call and book your own appointment.

You won’t be so stoked when your holding your breath and getting squished! It’s so creepy when you look down at what was once a breast, and is now a flat skin pancake! It is cool though if you can see the image on the technician’s computer. The last technician I had smelled like she just smoked a pack of cigs, that made the whole thing even more enjoyable. Why can you smoke and smell of cigs in the healthcare industry??????
Ewwwwww, thanks for the imagery, Erin!
Just let me know: does the damn thing hurt ? I should’ve got one ages ago, as my mum had breast cancer about 10 years back (thankfully, she’s been cancer-free since), but I’m waaaaay too chicken.
Someone told me that it hurts small boobs worse, which sucks as I’m only a B.
I had my first one last year and after being all nervous about it, it turned out to be no big deal at all. I’d rather have that than a dentist appt. I’m assuming they told you not to wear deoderant or powders the day of your exam. It messes up the reading.
Oh, and crys t, my mom has little boobs and she said it didn’t hurt.
Ah jeez, I guess that means that there’s really no more putting it off…..
It’s a bit like being in a waffle iron. I had a baseline when I was 30 b/c there’s BC in my family…Right on, sistah for getting a mammo and for blogging about it. BC is almost 100% curable if caught early…the earlier, the better.
