I tried the blowing technique and now my mouse scrolls neither up or down 🙁 can you bring Gerry over to work his mojo on mine? I live in Sydney, Australia…
Gerry said he also mashed the button down … rolled it back and forth and then blew in it for a 2nd time to get the gunk out. That’s why it’s stopped scrolling… all the finger gunk!!
If you clean it with an alcohol swab it will be perfect!!
If the mouse has a little ‘wheel’ like thing that surrounds the ball, you should be able to turn it and it should pop right off. It’s the cover that holds the ball in place. If you can get that off, you can take the ball completely out and use a q-tip and alcohol to take all the dust out.

of course, being 2007, you could just go buy an optical mouse.
