Hey all you single ladies … have I got a catch for you!!

My friend Josh Harper has been dumped!

He got a “Dear Josh” letter and he’s pretty sad about it – so as a way to boost his moral we have decided to make lemonade out of the proverbial lemons.

So ladies. Josh is single and READY TO MINGLE!! Well actually he’ll be ready to mingle in about a year and a half when he’s released from jail… But until then he’s a captive audience waiting to fall in love with you!

So please take a few minutes time to send Josh an introductory letter. Don’t be shy. Tell Josh a little about yourself. Your likes, dislikes, you can even send a photo!!

A few things about Josh: He OBVIOUSLY loves animals. He’s vegan. He enjoys watching wrestling and reading biography’s about metal music icons. From my own personal experience, let me tell you – Josh is an excellent pen-pal!

Now remember, there are a few rules when you write someone in prison (see below) but don’t let that stop you from writing.

LETTER WRITING:
Federal prisoners are permitted to receive a very small variety of items from “the outside”. Inmates are allowed to receive an unlimited number of cards, letters, and photographs (but no Polaroids) from anyone. They may also receive an unlimited number of magazines and periodicals, but these must come directly from the publisher (i.e. by way of a subscription directly to the prisoner); magazines and periodicals sent from anyone other than the publisher will be refused. Inmates are not permitted to receive any publication that contains material of a sexual nature; magazines containing sexual material will be destroyed.

Also, do not send stickers, or put stickers on your envelopes. Better to not really decorate them at all. Don’t make the kinds of jokes or statements that may get the inmate in trouble. When in doubt, don’t say it.

SENDING LETTERS

Please write the defendants in prison! They would love to hear from you and need the support. A couple of things to remember:

  • All mail is opened and read by prison officials.
  • Do not discuss the specifics of the case. All of the SHAC 7 defendants are appealing their convictions and, as such, they all still retain their Fifth Amendment rights to protect them in the event they are granted a new trial.
  • Mail can be sent first class, priority, or express.
