Got this letter from Amanda:
Hi Sarah
I’m a big admirer of yours (not in a weird way) and I was wondering if I could get a smidge bit of advice from you…what do you do when someone tells you that what you do won’t make a difference since you are only one person?
Here’s my response. Too harsh?
Tell them that they have a horrible attitude and if everyone thought the way they did that the world would be a terrible place to live.
Then give them a hug and ask them to start living up to their potential instead of sitting on their duff being an armchair cynic. And if it’s your Grandma. Do it politely.
Sounds like the perfect response to me!
I love that! And if I have the guts to say it some day, I will let you know immediately, because it would feel pretty damn good.
Amanda.. you need to read/watch Horton Hears a Who… Every voice makes a difference
GO Team Vegan!
*giggles* I likes you
Tell them you’re not one person, you’re one of millions of people worldwide all making a difference by their individual actions.
Then tell them this story. http://www.starfishdifference.com/
Then tell them to go suck it. :o)
love it! =)
Best.Response.Ever. I can’t wait to say/do this to the very next person to say that to me! And now to find the perfect snarky response to the infinite stream of people that ask me how I get protein.
