Bakesale!

Yesterday was a perfect day for a bake-sale!! 🙂

We set up tables out front of Tattoo Zoo and even though the sale didn’t officially start until noon … at about 11:45am there was a giant Dessert Mob!

Vegans were frantically (but humanely) trying to fill up their boxes/bags/hands with goodies before it all disappeared.

We had a steady flow of customers all day and by about 3pm we were basically sold out but we hung out till 4pm anyway … it was a beautiful sunny day and it felt nice to have the warm sun against my skin. It’s feeling like summmer here already! 🙂

Check out one our customers wallets – made out of a soymilk box. BRILLIANT!

This collection of cupcakes sat undisturbed for almost the whole day … nobody wanted to mess up the message. 🙂

Our community here in Victoria is small compared to bigger cities but we are mighty!

It was such a treat to visit with new and old friends …

Next year I have to remember to make some dog-cookies. We had a few disappointed doggies show up …

Big thanks to my friend Dave who was the coordinator of the bake-sale. He did a bang-up job of organizing the bakers and the event!!

And a BIG thank you to all the volunteer bakers and to everyone who showed up to support the event. I took a peek into the cash-box and I think we raised close to $1200 for Friends of Animals (Canada office).

When I got home I was feeling a little woozy and I thought it was from all the sugar I had eaten but I realized later that I had forgot to put sunscreen on and I ended up with a wicked burn. Only I would end up with an apron-string tan-lines…

Pink is the new tan??  🙂

  1. Beautiful summary, Sarah – an amazing job from you and all the contributors, such a great community!!

And you’re pretty much spot-on with the $$, the total is: $1181.64 – woohoo!!!

That, combined with last year, will print up over 2,000 of Friends of Animals’ Vegan Starter Guide booklets, all for distribution in Victoria (and they’re printed on 100% post-consumer waste paper, so no forests harmed.)

    Nicely done. =)

thanks to both of you for your tireless work to promote veganism and for allowing me to contribute w/o having to get sun burnt or talk to people (i do enough of that at work!) 😉

We all enjoyed the delicious vegan treats! I’m kind of ashamed to admit we gobbled them all up in one day…

    Also, that’s my baby! 😀
